There are many products on the market intended to help relieve pain and soreness in joints and muscles after a workout or for people who live with joint problems. Some products perform better than others, and recently, CBD has found its way into some products that aim to do the same job with natural ingredients you can use daily.

What Is CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is the beneficial ingredient found in cannabis and has been found to help with various medical problems. CBD is extracted primarily from hemp plants and offers the benefits of cannabis without the euphoric high that came from the THC or tetrahydrocannabinol in marijuana.

There are strains of marijuana cultivated with large amounts of CBD in them, but for products labeled as CBD products, the percentage of THC must be less than 0.3 percent and must come from hemp in the US.  A product like a CBD cooling recovery cream must be tested and be under that limit to be sold legally.

Topical Creams

Adding CBD to any product is possible, and it appears in everything from vape juice to coffee and edible products like gummies that make it more palatable. Putting CBD in a topical cream presents some challenges because the CBD now needs to be absorbed through the skin to get to its required area.

CBD cooling recovery cream is often used by applying it directly over the joint or the sore muscle, so the oils and other parts of the cream need to be easy to absorb into the skin. The best options are creams that are water-based or are formulated to penetrate the skin easily. Many also contain things like menthol to provide a cooling sensation, giving the CBD time to work.

CBD Dosages

CBD is incredibly subjective when it comes to the amount needed to relieve pain. Each person needs to determine the amount that works for them, and it can take some trial and error to determine that.

A CBD cooling recovery cream may come in several different strengths, so starting with a lower dosage and seeing how it works is a good practice. It is essential to understand that the amount of CBD in the cream may vary, and the packaging often lists the strength in milligrams, but that amount is not per-use, but rather the amount in the entire tube.

A cream that lists 500 milligrams of CBD should be broken down by the amount in the tube to determine how much you are using at a single application. Since it is nearly impossible to overdose CBD, applying a CBD cooling recovery cream every few hours could be an excellent option for managing joint or muscle pain. But it will take some experimenting with it to determine what works best for you.
