If you have just opened a new Halloween store full of costumes and scary things but are not getting any business, there are some things you can do change this. Here are three different options you have so you can get people walking through your door.

Website

The first thing you should do is to have a website even if you only plan to stay open throughout the holiday season. Hire a website designer to do this for you if you have no experience. They will know the right colors to use, the right graphics and the right keywords. If you currently have a website setup, the designer can make changes to it.

The website designer should know how to do SEO (search engine optimization). Done correctly, your website will have a much better ranking in the search engines when certain keywords are searched. For example, if someone is looking for a certain Halloween costume and searches for this keyword, your website will be listed on the first page of the search results.

Many people right now are searching for a variety of things from costumes to Halloween decorations for their yard. You can provide them with what they want and they would likely be walking through your door if they knew you were there.

Use a Sign Spinner

Hire someone that is experienced spinning signs to stand outside your store on the curb to get people's attention as they drive by. Have the person dress up in a different costume from your store every day. Make sure the costume is colorful so people can see it well.

The sign itself should be large enough for people to see it. Only put pertinent information on the sign, such as the name of your business, address, email, and phone number.

The sign spinner does not need to constantly turn the sign or people will not be able to read what is on it. Ask the sign turner to call out to cars asking them to come into your store. Think of a catching saying, such as "come into our store and get spooked." No matter what they say, they need to have a loud and boisterous voice so people can hear them.

Check with your local codes about using signs before you hire someone.

Getting customers through the door is the first step. You now need to make sure the inside of your store is inviting so they will be more apt to shop and buy items.
